Silhouette Design Architecture to Design Celebrity Chef Kardea Brown’s Southern Kitchen at CHS for Delaware North

Charleston, SC – August 21, 2024 – Delaware North has engaged Silhouette Design Architecture to design and brand Kardea Brown’s Southern Kitchen at Charleston International Airport, set to open in early 2025. Located in the CHS’ Central Hall, the space will showcase Ms. Brown’s vibrant take on Gullah cuisine, celebrated through her Food Network show, retail products, and cookbooks. Kardea Brown’s Southern Kitchen promises to be a feast for the senses, offering CHS travelers a unique and unforgettable culinary experience.

“We are incredibly excited to design Ms. Brown’s first restaurant,” said Tara Carmichael, Design Principal and Co-Founder of Silhouette Design Architecture. “Our goal was to create a space that truly captures Ms. Brown’s vibrant personality and the rich Gullah heritage she celebrates through her cuisine. From the bold colors to the cultural references that are uniquely Charleston, every detail of the design reflects her distinct style. This restaurant will offer CHS travelers an experience unlike anything they've seen before. Both Delaware North and Ms. Brown were eager to push the boundaries of design, and we are thrilled with the result.”

Kardea Brown’s Southern Kitchen is the second space in Silhouette Design Architecture’s collaboration with Delaware North to renovate the Central Hall at Charleston International Airport; they also developed Ashley Cooper Provisions, a new concept conceived as a “rooftop bar in the center of CHS” and under construction now with an opening date later this year. Kardea Brown’s Southern Kitchen will open in early 2025.
